537 Days Ago: Greatness Happened
Yesterday I was talking to a good friend of mine who works with some of the biggest names in the Saas and Info space.
Specifically, we were talking about how to get more qualified traffic to this newsletter.
I was clicking around and looking at some of the best YouTube channels, and I realised that most people getting great results had either:
Been posting for 3+ years
Built an audience elsewhere and transferred it to YouTube
Built up an insane track record and then launched a channel using their authority
I have done none of those things.
537 days ago I had just hit my first $20k month (in my first month of business) and I posted this YouTube video.
Before that, I was a sales rep for a few ‘internet companies.’
Then I left to start a growth agency.
Which means, in the 537 days since that video, I have:
Scaled to 6 figure profit months
Worked with 300+ clients
Travelled to the US 3x, Europe 3x and Dubai 1x
Documented my learnings and journey across 94 long form videos
Turned 21
When I first started out, I was just looking for the best offers to sell, and I wanted to hone my skillset and track record as much as possible (especially because I was 20 at the time).
My strategy was simple:
→ Help my clients sell more stuff
And they did.
Within a few months, each of my initial clients had added between $30-100k in new MRR across a few different industries.
The problem with that though, was because I was so involved with all these clients’ businesses, my focus was completely destroyed trying to troubleshoot all of them.
Running multiple businesses at once was just silly (I was pretty much partnered into 5-10 businesses at any given time).
I think Hormozi said something similar where he was running 9 businesses at once for a while and everything was just on fire all the time.
It was kind of like that lol.
I pretty much knew that if I kept going that way, I would never be able to reach my potential, and I would waste a lot of time in the weeds of these clients’ businesses.
Around that time, I was weighing up whether to fully partner with one of my clients and just focus on one client, or just sell a random productised service and sell that.
Then I met Matt, and I had my opportunity to just focus on one ‘client’.
And it’s safe to say it has been a success.
Unanimous 5 star reviews, a tonne or revenue generated for clients, and I have learned a lot along the way.
So when I look at how to progress faster, the only correct answer would be to continue for longer, and get better at everything (paid ads, YouTube, sales, product).
Your 20’s are for building your skills and track record.
It just so happens that you can also get rich while doing it.
You can progress very quickly and take quantum leaps in your income by constantly trying to get better at the core skills, working with the right people, and always trying to take the next logical step.
If you can do that, you’ll be good to go.
Do more, and do better.
Easy game.
