How to deal with distractions
Recently I posted this reel which reveals and explains my daily routine.
Someone from my audience asked:
“Hey Leo, got a question. How do you tackle distractions? Girls etc?”
I am glad he asked, because I think I have a good answer.
When it comes to distractions, it’s not as if I am not susceptible (at least on paper).
Everyone is susceptible.
There are nights when I don’t get to bed on time, hang out with my friends, and stay in bed too long after my alarm.
It just happens if you’re a human.
I think the key difference is that when I do get distracted, it doesn’t impact my performance or mindset at all.
Because everything that needs to happen will still happen, no matter what ‘distraction’ occurs.
I still wake up the next day and get all my work done.
I still show up the same way to my clients.
And I still show up the same way for the team.
Even if it gets to 9pm and I know I have to do another few hours, I will just do it.
If I sleep less that night, it is better to sleep less than leave work unfinished.
So when someone asks me how I deal with distraction…
I simply don’t deal with it.
I have my work routine, I have my workout routine, I know the exact stuff I have to do everyday and I know what the plan is for the foreseeable future.
And I am physically anxious if there is work left unfinished.
So when I wake up late and miss my schedule or go out on a date, I don’t really care.
Because I never miss anything important.
If I get everything I need to do done, does it matter what happens after or before that?
No, it doesn’t.
The problem comes up when your standards are too low, and you get distracted when you still have stuff left to do.
That is what I would call “unacceptable.”
There is never any situation where I would let anything get in the way of me doing my work. It’s just that simple.
If I know it needs to be done, that is just what happens. It might sound bad, but that means I’m not replying to texts, I’m not going out, and I’m not really leaving my room until the work is done.
I don’t even feed my dog until 8am when I’ve already moved the needle that day.
So if you aren’t getting your work done, I would say you need to raise your standards, fix your routine, and learn planning.
Think about it like this.
If someone was going for a job at your agency, and they said:
“I struggle with distraction and often don’t finish my work”
Are you hiring them?
F*ck no.
So how the hell do you expect to get hired by your clients if you get distracted?
To summarise:
Distractions don’t matter if you get all your work done
Don’t get upset when you get distracted, just finish your work
If you get distracted and leave work unfinished, fix your standards

I’ll also be posting an updated version in the next two weeks or so.
It really just comes down to being intentional with what you do.
When you’re working, you are locked in and dialled.
You have your schedule.
You have your plan.
You have your work routine.
And when you want to go on a date?
You are dialled in and present.
But this can only occur with extreme intention, planning and focus.

And as soon as you join I will personally send you a 90 minute presentation I made about how to get 100x more work done.
