Why Focusing On "One Channel" Is Dumb

Today we’re talking about acquisition channels, and why you need all four of them (paid ads, outreach, content and partnerships).

You Need to Do All Four Acquisition Channels. It is Not Optional.

To generate leads and systematically convert cold traffic into clients, you need to do all of these things. There is simply no way around it.

Once you get this into your head and accept it as a fact of life, implementing this strategy will naturally become a lot easier.

It is your self-limiting beliefs that will hold you back such as:

"I can't post that much content."

"I don't want to be public."

"Cold email doesn't work."

"My customers are not on Facebook or Instagram, so ads are pointless."

None of these things are actually true. But they don't have to be. If someone believes them to be true, they are true to them.

Accept the fact that all of these things work. It is a matter of "to what degree" do they work for you and what skills or knowledge you are currently missing that you need to acquire to make them work.

The skills and knowledge can be learned and acquired, just like anything else in life.

Generate More Leads, Change Your Life

Here is what happens when you generate more leads:

  1. When you generate more leads, you have more options.

  2. When you have more options, you become less "needy" and desperate.

  3. When you are less needy, it is easier to sell to clients

  4. When it is easier to sell, you convert a higher percentage and get more clients.

  5. When you get as many clients as you want, you can be selective and you can avoid people who would become "nightmare clients."

  6. When you get more clients, you will naturally get more referrals.

  7. When you have more leads, clients and referrals, you will be able to charge higher prices due to supply and demand.

  8. When you charge higher prices, you have a higher profit margin.

  9. When you have a higher profit margin, you can afford to hire better and more competent people.

  10. When you have smart, capable people running your business, you can spend less time working inside the business and more time vacationing and building the business.

  11. You can reinvest both your time and extra profit margins into growing the business.

  12. When you reinvest in growing the business, you get more leads.

  13. And, back to the beginning.

Try not to buy into the idea that you have to pick one acquisition channel and master it. You may have a main acquisition channel, but all four are important because each one makes the others more effective.

Get rid of the self-limiting beliefs that say "you have to focus on one." Get rid of the people in your life that tell you the same. Neither serve you. They just hold you back.

The biggest and best businesses do all four. Any time you rely on just one thing, there is an element of risk.

One client. One service. One revenue stream. One acquisition channel.

If one acquisition channel stops working, you are at zero.

If you have four and one stops working, you are still at three.

You wouldn't put all your money in a single stock. You shouldn't put the future of your entire business into one acquisition channel.

Algorithms change. Accounts get banned. Trends go out of style. Markets shift.

You need all four.
