How To Deal With Unqualified Leads

In any given market, at any given time, 99% of the leads are always going to be unqualified.

It doesn’t matter what you do.

Maybe they can't afford it. Maybe they have someone in house. Maybe they have another agency. Maybe they are just not a good fit for you personality wise.

Of course you can focus on attracting higher quality leads, but truly there is nothing you, I, or anyone else is going to do to change this.

The actual ‘problem’ here is that you only have your main service and nothing else to offer.

Just because someone is not "qualified" to pay you thousands of dollars per month doesn't mean they have no money at all.

The solution to this problem is not to change human nature, macroeconomics or life in general.

The solution is to create different offers to address these different levels of the market.

If you don't, you will be leaving about 75% of potential revenue on the table.

If you are only offering your main service, you are making about 1/4 as much as you could be making.

Let’s say you’re running paid ads, making content and doing outreach.

Particularly when you’re running lead magnet ads, you are basically just purchasing traffic to your name and brand (the exact same as making content).

That means you’ll get about the same split between qualified and unqualified people consuming your stuff.

As a result, if you got 1000 people to sign up for your lead magnet, maybe only a couple would be able to afford your main stuff.

So if you want to liquidate your ad spend, you can either rely on hoping that someone will convert for your main service, or you can sell:

  • Digital products

  • Affiliate products

  • Course/coaching

  • One time setups

If you haven’t run ads before and you’re doing <50k/mo - it makes sense to think “how would I even need this” when in reality it is a huge part of any agency that actually scales.

It seems there is a common belief around the online space that agencies don’t scale.

That is simply because 99% do it wrong, and they don’t have the stuff you need.

This is what I would consider ‘stuff you need‘ if you want to avoid getting stuck in the agency rat race.

I get it that the human brain wants to avoid work, but this is just the stuff that will take your agency to the next level so your income can actually be stable for once.
