Why Selling Can Be Hard (When It Shouldn't Be)
When selling - there is one main fundamental mistake to avoid
Hey.
Let me just tell you straight.
If you are sending thousands of cold emails and reaching out to everyone in your available market and doing the work that people tell you to do…
Meaning you advertise a lot (whether via cold outreach, one to one, ads, content etc)
And you STILL aren’t getting a lot of clients
Something is wrong and you are likely committing a cardinal sin of sales.
And that is selling something that nobody wants.
More specifically, selling something nobody wants on the front end.
Because it’s likely, that even if they don’t WANT a service or product, they may still need it or have a use for it. Which is probably the thing that keeps you interested enough in providing that service for a long period of time.
Most people who are doing well with something like this (for example, email marketing, video editing etc) are selling it via a personal brand and referrals.
Because let’s just be honest - bridging the trust gap is very hard with cold prospects.
Especially when you aren’t selling something they want. Kinda like trying to convince a 5 year old to eat broccoli.
Yeah they kinda need it, but they definitely don’t want it.
So instead of trying to sell something your prospects don’t want, and then spending years trying to master persuasion…
Try finding something small that they DO want (that is also low friction to get started with) that you can give to them as an introduction to you and your company… and then offer them your main services or products afterwards.
This will 10x your outbound and advertising efforts.
Until next time,
Leo
