Stop Being Afraid
90% of the time, you know what you need to do.
You KNOW you need to hire someone so you can focus on marketing and sales.
You KNOW you need to set up an ad campaign so you can avoid relying on cold outreach.
You KNOW you need to make better SOPs and systems so you can avoid destroying your client results as you scale.
And if you really looked at what you’ve been focusing on, can you honestly say that you have NOT been avoiding a certain 2-3 key tasks that will take you to the next level?
I only know this because I go through it myself, and continually go through the process of procrastinating a key task.
Then I eventually realise in the time I was procrastinating I could have messed it up 5 times, and then eventually cracked it on the 6th instead of just waiting.
For example at my agency, there was a long time where I was thinking “wow I should really productise this and stop doing 99% custom work” but because I was too caught in the weeds, I delayed it.
There’s no way to determine how much $ this cost me, but I would imagine it’d be substantial.
It’s opportunity cost. I see this everywhere, and it is a killer.
Dodging that hard conversation, being too afraid of losing a few thousand dollars on a paid ad campaign, or just being stuck in the agency rat race where you spend all your time fulfilling for clients.
These things destroy you and your self image, a lot of the time you’re just not conscious enough to realise it at the time.
Action Item:
Actually take time to reflect. Get a pen and paper journal. Write down the 10 things you need to do to scale. Then cut it down from those 10, to the core three tasks you must do.
Figure out how to get them done. Pay someone, hire someone, go on YouTube, spend 10 hours doing it yourself, whatever. It doesn’t matter.
Find the task, do the task. No excuses.
It might be firing someone, it might be calling your Mum. Whatever you do, stop avoiding the key work.
And if you’re still afraid of the potential loss?
Do it while you’re scared.
