- A trap you need to avoid
A trap you need to avoid
Recently I decided to treat this newsletter (and all my content) more like a set of notes/reflections to myself.
As such, one of the most important things I have learned is that doing volume does not mean improving.
Improving means improving, and doing volume just gives you more chances to improve.
One of the dumbest things I have ever done, is do high volume cold email without rapidly testing.
Why is that dumb?
Because the whole point of doing volume is either:
To scale a winning campaign
To try and find a winning campaign
If you do volume without testing/improving, you are just wasting time and energy.
It is the same with anything.
For example, on YouTube, if you post 3x per week but each video is the exact same quality as the one before, what was the point of posting?
There is none.
The best way to avoid this, is to create ‘improvement systems’ which is basically just a fancy way of saying ‘make a list of stuff to do better.’
For example, when my content isn't working as well as I want, here's what I focus on:
Punchier hook
Better sales copy in the lead
Focus on current state of ideal viewer
Learn platform specific hacks (eg watch Mr Beast podcasts)
Make it actionable with 24 hrs
Make it simpler
This doesn’t take an expert brain.
You could know very little about content and still be able to come up with a list of stuff to improve.
It’s just that nobody thinks to actually do it.
Action Item:
Schedule a weekly review of important areas in your business. For example, if you post a lot of content, put 30 minutes in your calendar per week to review all your posts.
During the review, write down 5-10 things you did well and 5-10 things you can improve
Implement the improvements the next week and double down on the good stuff
After the week, review the stuff you wanted to improve
You can and should do this with any process in your business.
It is that simple, just have to schedule the time.
While you’re here, check out this video. It’s about how we collected $250k in 30 days from a new YouTube channel (link).
See you tomorrow.
